ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) - Nearly all of New York state is now experiencing drought conditions, with most areas under either a drought watch or warning as of Wednesday.

Clinton, Essex, and Franklin counties in the North Country region are under a drought warning, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. The Governor’s Office is urging residents in these areas to conserve water whenever possible.

Despite the widespread drought conditions, no mandatory statewide water restrictions have been implemented. However, a burn ban remains in effect across affected areas.

Even recent overnight rainfall has failed to provide significant relief from the dry conditions plaguing the state. The precipitation was insufficient to make a meaningful impact on the drought situation.
