A tall, expressionless Phoenix man – who was a 10-year military veteran, according to his attorney – was arrested Thursday and charged with killing two teens who were on a camping trip.

Pandora Kjolsrud, 18, and Evan Clark, 17, were slain May 26 in a rugged area near Mount Ord – roughly halfway between Mesa and Payson.

The two attended Scottsdale Unified School District’s Arcadia High, which is in east Phoenix just outside Scottsdale.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested Thomas Brown, 31, at his Phoenix home Oct. 2.

He is being held on $2 million bail after being called “a danger to society.”

According to arrest records, Brown’s DNA was on items at the campsite where the teens were murdered as well as in their vehicle.
