SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Eight new measles cases have been identified in Southeast Utah, bringing the statewide total to 53.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the eight new cases have all been identified in the Southwest Utah Health Department and is the 39th case in the region this year. The Utah County Health District has seven cases, the Bear River Health District has four cases, and the Southeast Utah Health District has three cases.
Of all 53 recorded cases in Utah this year, only one case occurred in a vaccinated individual. Besides one other case where the individual's vaccination status was unknown, all other cases have been in unvaccinated individuals. Additionally, six of the cases have required hospitalization.
The Department of Health and Human Service
