FARMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - A part of the City of Farmington has been put under a boil order due to a water main break.
The main break occurred at around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Illinois American Water says that emergency repairs are currently underway. They should take around six hours to complete, finishing around 4 or 5 p.m.
American Water said that those in the affected area should boil all water used for cooking or drinking for five minutes before use. Water is still safe to use for bathing, laundry, and other non-potable needs.
Residents in the affected area will be notified when the boil order is lifted. Those living in apartments will be notified by their landlord.
