INDIANAPOLIS — The Alcoholic Beverage Board of Marion County has voted to deny a liquor license renewal request by Moon Bar & Grill in downtown Indianapolis .
After more than an hour-and-a-half of discussion Monday, the board voted 3-1 against the request, citing nuisance concerns from IMPD and opposition voiced by surrounding businesses and organizations.
Metro Police showed up to the meeting with a laundry list of receipts: numerous calls for fights, underage bargoers and thefts, with more serious calls to the bar, including assaults and shots fired.
"When a location has repeated calls for service, especially in the form of disturbances or violent crimes, it drains our police resources and it threatens community safety," IMPD Sgt. Amanda Hibschman said. "We want businesses to succeed
