BAINBRIDGE, Ind. — The members of a small Putnam County community want to know what happened to one of their own.

It's now been a week since anyone has seen or heard from 46-year-old Britney Gard .

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 911 dispatchers got a call about a fire at a home in the 6200 block of East County Road 600 North in Bainbridge, Indiana, which is approximately 35 miles west of downtown Indianapolis.

Deputies said smoke was seen coming from the home, and nobody was found inside.

In an update Friday, Oct. 3, the sheriff's office said, "Fire investigators advise that they believe the fire that started in the house is suspicious in nature."
