HAMBURG, N.Y. — A Hamburg man has filed petitions to force a vote on a new community center proposed for the town.
Joshua Collins, who is also waging a write in campaign for town supervisor, says he wants to promote democracy while his critics call him an obstructionist.
A winding road to this point
For years the town had been operating its recreation and senior programs out of a building at the Frontier Central School District . However, the district needed the space back and community programs were relocated here to a building at Erie Community College's South Campus.
With that campus due to be sold, the town was again in need of a new home for a community center, and began planning to build its own community center the Nike Base park on Lakeview Road.
