BUFFALO, N.Y. — As the federal government shutdown moved through its eighth day, we learned about a job impact on local federal workers.
Some local IRS staffers learned Wednesday they have been placed on furlough , which means they are temporarily off the job on leave without pay.
With another failed vote Wednesday in the U.S. Senate, this time on a Democratic alternative plan to end the federal government shutdown with those disputed proposed revisions in health care insurance funding, the effect of that government funding deadlock now has now affected some Internal Revenue Service staffers who work out of the Appletree Business Park in Cheektowaga. Some may also be based at the Federal Office Building on Elmwood Avenue in downtown Buffalo.
