WACO, Texas — For more than 13 years, Gary Combs has been turning his Waco home into a Halloween display that draws crowds from across Central Texas. But two years ago, he added something that goes beyond the spooky decorations — a sensory-friendly night that ensures every child can enjoy the magic of Halloween.

The inspiration came from close to home: Combs' two grandchildren, who have cochlear implants.

"I actually have two grandkids that have cochlear implants, and they can't handle loud noises," Combs explained. "The youngest doesn't really like flashing lights that much, so we decided to do it basically for them, but then include everybody."
