The Blue Jays could punch their ticket to the American League championship series tonight but they’d still have to wait a couple days to find out who would meet them there.

The Detroit Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 9-3 Wednesday afternoon, tying the series and forcing a winner-take-all Game 5 on Friday.

Whoever comes out on top will go on to play the winner of the Blue Jays/Yankees series, with Game 1 set to start Sunday.

Toronto secured home field advantage in the next series by finishing the regular season with the best record in the American League.
