HOUSTON — METRO says it will re-stripe the intersection at Westheimer and Taft to bring the rainbow Pride crosswalk in Montrose into compliance with federal design and safety standards.

The move follows recent correspondence from the Texas Department of Transportation and a statement from Governor Greg Abbott’s office directing all local jurisdictions to ensure roadway markings align with federal and state traffic control and safety regulations.

In a statement Wednesday evening, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County said:

“The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) will re-stripe the pavement at the intersection of Westheimer and Taft to bring the pedestrian crosswalk into compliance with federal design and safety standards.
