SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Cooler temperatures mean more people are turning on their furnaces for the first time this year. Professionals are reminding Siouxland homeowners to get their heaters checked, even if they seem to be working fine.

After the last couple of nights of cold temperatures, heating and cooling specialists' phones have been ringing off the hook.

Before turning on your furnace, it's recommended that you call an expert to have it checked out. However, if you have to turn it on, there are a couple of things you should do first.
