LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Jesus Ayala, accused of hitting and killing a retired police chief in Las Vegas in Aug. 2023, will agree to a plea deal, court records show.

According to district court records, Ayala agreed to enter a guilty plea to one count of second-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon, one count of battery with a deadly weapon and one count of robbery.

An Alford plea was entered for one count of battery with a deadly weapon that caused substantial bodily harm. The plea does not admit guilt, but acknowledges that there is sufficient evidence to support a conviction.

As a result of the plea, Ayala will face a sentence of 20 years to life in prison. His co-defendant Jzamir Keys is expected to accept a deal, to which Ayala’s deal is contingent.
