BANGOR, Maine — Local lawmakers met Wednedsay in Bangor to discuss the future of a transportation program that provides MaineCare patients with rides to medical appointments.

This meeting comes as the the health care service company Modivcare was awarded a multimillion-dollar 10-year contract to provide the service filed for bankruptcy.

"We want non-medical transportation to be reliable we want it to be there,” state Rep. Amy Roeder said at the press conference held at Bangor Public Library.

The political leaders called on the state to re-examine the MaineCare transportation contract with Modivcare.

"The administration needs to change course on this policy,” state Sen. Joe Baldacci said at the press conference.
