BLAIR, Neb. —

A 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after getting hit by a truck.

The incident happened on Wednesday in the area of 16th and Park streets in Blair.

According to the city's public safety and communications coordinator, a witness said both the truck and the boy, who was on a motorized scooter, were stopped before going at the same time. The witness said the boy was dragged a few feet by the truck.

The boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but officials said he was awake and alert.

Police said the driver did stop, and they were cited and released.
