OMAHA, Neb. —
It's been 50 days since Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and Homeland Security announced a new ICE detention facility coming to McCook, Neb. set to be called the "Cornhusker Clink."
In an interview with KETV two days after the initial announcement, Pillen said he expected the facility to be up and running by this time.
"I love to use John Wooden quote, 'We're going to go quick, but not too fast,'" he said on August 21. "We're not like other places talking about stuff. We're ready to go. I would hope we're operational in 45 days."
That was 48 days ago.
The plan is to turn the McCook Work Ethic Camp, a correctional facility, into a low-offender ICE facility.
