Mother testifies in trial of woman accused of fatally stabbing 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the last minutes of his life, 3-year-old Julian Wood helped his mother pick out flowers. They then left the North Olmsted grocery store and headed to their car.

Margot Wood, the boy’s mother, told jurors Wednesday that she didn’t notice anything unusual as she pushed a shopping cart with Julian seated inside on June 3, 2024.

Seconds later, authorities say, Bionca Ellis – who had never met the pair – attacked them with a large knife. Julian died, while his mother suffered injuries to her shoulder.

Wood, in emotional testimony, said she didn’t see Ellis until she began to open the trunk of her car. She then noticed a woman coming toward her with a knife.

She said she tried to push the cart, with Julian still in it, away from the danger, and it tipped over.
