GROVE CITY, Ohio — A Grove City police officer was shot and the suspect was killed Wednesday night during a foot chase following a barricade situation, according to Lt. Jason Stern.

Officers with the Grove City Division of Police were called around 5:15 p.m. to a home in the 3800 block of Louise Court on a report of a burglary in progress, Stern said in a press conference.

A homeowner allegedly saw an unknown male suspect inside with a gun, safely got away and called police. Stern said arriving officers set up containment and ordered the suspect to surrender.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home, and the Grove City Strategic Response Team arrived at the scene, Stern said.
