RSL NSW president Mick Bainbridge and his business partner and fellow RSL director Paul-Raymond James have sensationally resigned from RSL NSW just 10 minutes before the board and district presidents were due to vote on their removal.

The board of RSL NSW had called a meeting with the District Presidents Council, which represents the sub-branches, to vote on the removal of Bainbridge and James after receiving legal advice on the outcome of an investigation into alleged conflicts of interest, bullying and breaches of the code of conduct.

Bainbridge and James, who claimed to have the support of the membership as recently as last week, were joined by their board allies Philip Chin and Charles New in quitting before the meeting took place.
