Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has defended the Glazer family's ownership of the Red Devils .
The Glazers have come under intense scrutiny from fans for their stewardship of United ever since their leveraged acquisition in 2005 saddled the club with a hefty debt - currently estimated at around £725million. Numerous fan groups voiced their opposition to the deal 20 years ago.
British billionaire Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7 per cent stake in United in a $1.2bn deal at the start of 2024 after striking a deal with the Glazer family. The Ineos CEO was handed oversight over footballing and strategic matters at the club.
The 72-year-old has now had his say on the controversial majority owners of United in an interview with The Times' Business Podcast .
