WASHINGTON, DC (AZFamily) — A heated confrontation erupted in the halls of Congress on Wednesday as Arizona’s two Democratic senators clashed with House Speaker Mike Johnson over the ongoing government shutdown and a delayed swearing-in ceremony.

On day eight of the government shutdown, political tensions boiled over when Sens. Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego visited Johnson’s office. What began as a hastily called press conference quickly devolved into accusations and shouting matches.

“There’s the speaker right there,” a reporter noted as Johnson approached the senators. “Hey gentlemen, appreciate it, good to see you all,” Johnson said, crashing their press conference.
