BEAUMONT, Texas — Less than a month before Beaumont voters head to the polls to decide on a proposed $264 million bond , the city’s economic development manager has resigned, citing misinformation and negativity surrounding the bond process.
Christina Lokey announced her resignation Tuesday in a Facebook post, ending an eight-year career with the city. She had served as Beaumont’s economic development manager for the past year.
“I’ve never been a quitter,” Lokey said, “but unfortunately it was just time.”
Lokey told 12News the decision came after months of pushback and misinformation circulating online about the city’s bond proposal, which will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot.
