MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Survivors, family members and loved ones honored breast cancer awareness month Wednesday at Hilldale shopping center through a mini race.

Participants walked or ran 352 yards, directly across the outdoor shopping center, and shopped and sipped at businesses along the way.

Breast Cancer Recovery, a Madison-based nonprofit, hosted the event.

Board member and survivor, Laurie Bue has been involved with the nonprofit ever since she received her breast cancer diagnosis, and the organization quickly became part of her recovery community.

“It’s one of those things that you don’t sign up for but you do get a community of people that are there to support you,” Bue said. “They understand what you went through and even though everyone’s journey is so different, it’s nice to
