Lucas County electric bills are up — way up — 55 percent from 6.3 cents per kilowatt hour to 9.75 cents.

The cost of electricity was below market rates for three years that ended in May thanks to a contract negotiated by the Northwest Ohio Aggregation Coalition on behalf of 125,000 consumers in 13 Greater Toledo communities that have selected NOAC to find them gas and electricity.
