Police in Chennai received a bomb threat call targeting actor Vijay’s residence in Tamil Nadu’s Neelangarai. The caller, reportedly from Kanyakumari, dialed the emergency number 100 and warned that a bomb would be planted at Vijay’s house if he held any public meetings in the future.

Police have launched an investigation and are currently tracing the caller’s location. Security has been tightened around Vijay’s residence in Neelangarai.

This comes soon after Vijay’s political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, which ended in tragedy. At least 41 people lost their lives after a stampede broke out in the crowd. Videos circulated showing desperate attendees climbing into thatched huts to escape the crush.

Vijay has since reached out personally, placing video calls to many of the bereaved families
