With their six-month-old daughter sleeping beside them, a woman poured boiling oil on her sleeping husband in the dead of night and then sprinkled chilli powder on him in Delhi’s Madangir area. The husband is currently in critical condition and admitted to the ICU of Safdarjung Hospital.

The neighbours were immediately alerted by the screams of the husband, Dinesh. As they rushed to the door and knocked on it, the wife, Sadhana, refused to open.

According to the FIR, the incident occurred on October 2 at around 3:15 am.

"On the day of the incident, we heard Dinesh screaming. When we went upstairs, his wife wasn't opening the door, and he was badly burnt. He kept saying that his wife had poured hot oil and chilli powder on him," the landlord's daughter, Anjali, told India Today TV.
