COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — One person died in a crash in Colleton County Wednesday night, a South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) spokesperson reported.

The crash occurred at 9:10 p.m. on Jefferies Highway near the intersection of McLeod Road. There was only one car and person involved, according to an official.

The driver reportedly veered off the road to the left and struck a fence. They were taken to a local hospital where they ultimately died, Master Trooper William Bennett said.

The crash is under investigation by the SCHP.
