Srinagar, Oct 9: The Supreme Court will on Friday hear a batch of petitions seeking the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, which was revoked following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

The pleas are listed at serial number 17 before a bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI). “The case is listed for hearing on October 10 before a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India,” said advocate Soayib Qureshi, representing one of the petitioners.

Qureshi added that the Union of India has not filed any response to the petitions so far.

During an earlier hearing on August 14, the Supreme Court observed that the ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir must be taken into account, noting that incidents such as the Pahalgam attack could not be overlooked.
