GROVE CITY, Ohio — A suspect is dead and an officer wounded Wednesday after police responded to reports of a burglary at a residence in a Columbus suburb.

A news release from the Grove City Police Department says the wounded officer is in a hospital in stable condition. The identities of the officer and the suspect have not been released.

Officers were called to a residence at 5:15 p.m. The homeowner told officers there was a suspect inside the home and he was armed with a gun.

The suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside the residence after police arrived. The police department’s Strategic Response Team was called to the scene.
