EVANSVILLE — The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival was full of excited kids Wednesday morning, all ready for rides, games and foods.

That's not unlike any other day during Fall Festival week on West Franklin Street, but it was a bit earlier than usual to help cut down on crowds and noise to help make it a special time for " Special Kids Day ."

On this day, hundreds of kids with special needs flock to the West Side of Evansville to enjoy all the Fall Festival has to offer. Students are able to do all of this free of charge thanks to donations and volunteers.

In 1990, the first "Special Kids Day" event was held and about 150 kids attended. As the Fall Festival has continued to grow over the years, so has the event. It now includes kids from all around the Evansville Vanderburgh School Co
