The World Health Organization (WHO) said it has received confirmation from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on a toxic contaminant in three cough syrup medicines , linked to clusters of paediatric illnesses and deaths.
“On 8 October 2025, WHO received confirmation from CDSCO that Diethylene Glycol (DEG) had been detected in at least three oral syrup medicines.
