Priscilla has weakened into a tropical storm but is still forecast to bring heavy rain to portions of the southwestern United States through the next few days.

The National Hurricane Center said in an Oct. 9 advisory Priscilla was located about 270 miles west of the southern tip of Baja California with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph with higher gusts. The storm is expected to continue weakening and become a post-tropical cyclone by Friday, the hurricane center said.
