The United States Postal Service has launched a new Informed Delivery mobile app designed to help Americans better protect themselves against mail theft as incidents continue to surge nationwide.
Nearly 1.7 million cases of mail theft occur every day. Almost 40% of Americans report having mail deliveries stolen at some point as criminals target personal information, bank cards, and packages.
The free mobile app expands on USPS’s existing Informed Delivery service, which already has 73 million users. The service allows people to digitally preview their incoming mail and packages through daily email digests that show grayscale images of mail and provide status updates on deliveries.
