A baby who was left fighting for life has sadly died. The child was taken to hospital in a critical condition after emergency services were called to a property in Eston on Sunday, October 5.

Cleveland Police has now confirmed the youngster has since passed away. As previously reported, Bradley Thomas, 22, appeared in court on Tuesday, October 7, after being charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

Thomas, of Grasmere Road, Redcar, did not enter a plea to the charge during a short hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday, November 5.

A force spokesperson said today: "Our thoughts are with the family of the baby during this very difficult time."
