PORTAGE — A man taken by police to the hospital out of concern over a potential drug overdose is accused of grabbing a police officer's holster and then repeatedly grabbing at his gun before being subdued with a stun gun he was also trying to reach.

Marc Sheckells, 35, of Portage, was taken to the hospital early Wednesday when after his arrest, a nurse at the jail discovered 46 pills missing from a prescription filled just the day prior, according to the arrest report.

Sheckells had been taken into custody a short time earlier after reportedly causing a disturbance at a home in the 5300 block Stone Avenue.

Portage police were reportedly told during the arrest that Sheckells was likely "doped up" and is always on drugs. Police said they found drugs and evidence of drug use o
