CHESTERTON — The 69-year-old woman found dead in her backyard Sunday after being reported missing by her husband had died of natural causes, police said in an update to the case.
The determination was made during an autopsy done this week, according to Chesterton police.
"We extend our sincere condolences to (the woman's) family and friends and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers, police said.
Police said the husband called around 12:20 a.m. Sunday to report his wife missing from their residence in the 1700 block of Portage Avenue.
Responding officers reported finding the woman dead in the backyard of the home.
Police said at the time foul play was not suspected.
