The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) has issued advice to householders, including steps to avoid mosquito infestations, following the publication of a report from UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

The national trade body is warning householders to be vigilant after two species of disease-carrying mosquitoes were found in the UK.

A report from the UKHSA revealed eggs from the Egyptian mosquito (Aedes aegypti) were discovered for the first time ever in September 2023 in a surveillance trap at Heathrow Airport.

(Aedes albopictus) eggs were found for the first time since 2019 at a service station on the M20 in Kent.
