Truth Perth on Hay Street has lodged an application for a new bar licence which would give it extended operating hours and a huge jump in the venue’s capacity.

According to the application to the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety, it “seeks to expand the venue’s operational and service capacity, allowing for greater community engagement, more diverse cultural programming and the further promotion of First Nations business leadership within Perth’s hospitality sector”.

The venue currently operates under a small bar licence, which restricts its capacity to 120 people — excluding responsible persons and authorised officers. If the application is approved, the venue will be able to hold up to 550 persons at one time.
