HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - The archbishop of Hartford announced the return of Catholic education to Hartford.
Archbishop Christopher Coyne held a news conference on Asylum Avenue on Thursday morning.
Coyne said The Catholic Academy of Hartford will open to students next year.
Children from pre-kindergarten to second grade will be able to enroll for the fall of 2026.
Officials said the plan is to add a grade level each year, ultimately teaching through eighth grade.
The school planned to operate on just a tuition model, which aimed to meet families’ economic needs.
Hartford has been without an option for Catholic education since 2016 with the St. Augustine School closed.
