HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The city of Hartford is going to have a Catholic school once again.

Archbishop Christopher Coyne announced Thursday morning that The Catholic Academy of Hartford will open in the fall of next year. It will be the first Catholic school Hartford has had since 2016.

“I could not accept the fact that our state capital and geographic and spiritual center of our archdiocese did not have a school to form our young people,” Coyne said.

Coyne vowed to change that when he took over the archdiocese two years ago. For years, we heard about Catholic schools of the archdiocese consolidating and closing. That trend is now reversing, he says.
