SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) -- Residents of Seymour have voted in a referendum to approve the construction of a new elementary school that is expected to cost around $60 million to build.

The referendum to build a new Bungay Elementary School was approved Thursday with 1,744 residents voting yes and 391 residents voting no. The current Bungay Elementary School is located at 35 Bungay Road.

The school's construction will be partly funded by up to $20 million in bonds issued by the town.
