Everybody chill .

No matter who announces it, no thinking primate can be unhappy with a possible ceasefire in Gaza. But let's all wait to see how things unfold before we sing our hosannas to El Caudillo del Mar-A-Lago for his geopolitical legerdemain. That means you, CNN. The bare bones of the proposal—all hostages home, some Palestinian prisoners released, withdrawal of most, but not all, Israeli troops from Gaza—seem fine, but the deal remains smoky in almost all of its details.

The president says all the hostages "will be coming back on Monday," but who knows if he's to be trusted on that. There doesn't seem to be any plan to bring back the displaced people of Gaza to return to what's left of their homes, nor any provision to rebuild the enclave so that they would want to.
