SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Coastal Heritage Society’s annual Battlefield Memorial March reminded those in attendance, and those who were not, about one of Savannah’s most significant moments in the country’s history.

A march started at the Savannah History Museum with reenactment workers, members of several organizations, and community members to honor those who fought in the 1779 Battle of Savannah.

That battle was one of the most pivotal and bloody conflicts during the Revolutionary War.

The Revolutionary War Patriots marker was made possible by the Daughters of the American Revolution organization.

It’s placed in the lawn between the Georgia State Railroad Museum and the Savannah History Museum.
