BOONE, N.C. — A 23-year-old Boone man has been arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material, police said Tuesday.

Sunimal Matthew De Silva was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the Boone Police Department into the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to a police news release.

De Silva was charged with four counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is being held on a $200,000 secured bond with a court date set for December 22, 2025.

The Boone Police Department credited the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Watauga County Sheriff's Office with assisting in the investigation.
