With a freshman quarterback who never started a varsity game in high school and a roster full of transfers, North Texas is gearing up for what might be the biggest game in school history.
North Texas, coming off a bye week, will host No. 24 South Florida on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd at DATCU Stadium, the first sellout in the venue’s history. In a show of school-wide anticipation, all classes after noon on Friday have been canceled.
“I told the kids this week, we’ve earned the right for us to be able to be on this stage and do this,” head coach Eric Morris said. “Just like anything in life, you’ve got to seize opportunities when they’re there.”
