ATHENS, Pa. (WETM) – A Sayre man has been arrested on various charges after officials say he caused a scene that involved the misuse of emergency services in Athens Borough.
Neil J. Riley, 37, was arrested on the following charges, as stated in a release from the Athens Borough Police Department (ABPD): • Obstructing administration of law or other governmental functions • Flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment • Obstructing emergency services
Officials say Riley was charged with the crimes following an incident that occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 7, just before 3:30 p.m. in Athens Borough. At this time, officials say an officer with the police department was notified about a person, later identified as Riley, who had jumped off the Route 199 bridge into the Chemung River with the
