WASHINGTON (WCJB) - Groups of women lawmakers in Congress agree that the government shutdown should end, but disagree on whether Republicans or Democrats should concede.
The Republican Women’s Caucus sent a letter to Democratic women in the Senate urging them to end the ongoing government shutdown.
North Central Florida Congresswoman Kat Cammack, a Republican, a co-founder of the caucus, claimed the shutdown threatens programs such as Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The program is being temporarily funded from revenue from tariffs amid the shutdown.
While Republican members of Congress are calling on Democrats to support their budget, the Democratic Women’s Caucus is demanding changes to the bill to undo funding cuts to healthcare services.
