The Salem City Council will vote Monday on permanently appointing Interim City Manager Krishna Namburi to the job she’s been doing since March following positive reviews from other city leaders, employee unions and city councilors.

“Krishna is imminently qualified for the position and has performed at a high level in her prior roles as interim city manager,” Council President Linda Nishioka said in her motion for the appointment. “The city is unlikely to find a better candidate through a costly and time-consuming public recruitment, and certainly not one who combines her talent, innovation and decades of experience with the city.”

Councilors unanimously voted to appoint Namburi as interim city manager after the resignation of former Salem City Manager Keith Stahley in February.
