Hoping to short circuit a court fight, Marion County is asking a federal judge to order county officials to release parole records that would help immigration authorities locate and deport three men.
Marion County officials said in their filing they want to turn over the documents sought under a federal subpoenas but want a court directive to do so.
The records are at the center of two court cases over whether counties can share parole information with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Oregon’s sanctuary law. The state law generally prohibits helping enforce federal immigration laws.
“Marion County supports deporting convicted rapists and kidnappers who have victimized children, violated immigration laws, and taken up taxpayer resources,” said the motion, filed in Portlan
