The Maharashtra government has decided to consider the electoral roll updated till July 1 this year for the forthcoming civic polls, including the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections.
In a notification issued on Thursday, the state government conveyed to all the municipal corporations in Maharashtra that the July 1 electoral roll will be used for the civic elections. “The electoral roll for each ward will be finalised based on the electoral roll of the state Assembly constituencies till July 1 this year,” said deputy election officer (PMC) Prasad Katkar.
The previous five-year term of the elected body in the PMC ended in 2022 and since then the civic body has been administered by municipal commissioners appointed by the state government.
